          Energiency is a French Tech start-up founded in April 2013 with a team of 12 engineers. Energiency deploys artifical intelligence and big data energy analytics for the  Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) in medium and big manufacturing Groups in Europe. The Energiency technology has already received 20 Innovation awards, including the 2014 Award of French Ministry of Research, and has been designated « Energy Transition Start-up 2015 of the year » by French magazine L’Usine Nouvelle. 
           

           

          The selected nominees will be showcased during European Utility Week in Vienna, and the one and only winner per category as well as the overall winner will be announced during the Innovation Awards Ceremony at the Innovation Hub on Tuesday 3rd November 2015.

          Before joining ESMT, Jens Weinmann was project manager of the Market Model Electric Mobility, a research project financed by the German environmental ministry (BMU).

          Further consulting experience includes projects with the Energy Markets Group at London Business School, Omega Partners London, and the World Energy Council. He has taught master classes in environmental and resource economics at the HTW Berlin, statistics in the bachelor programs of the HWR Berlin School of Economics & Law, and was guest lecturer at Cambridge University and European Business School, London.

          He graduated in energy engineering (Dipl.-Ing.) at the TU Berlin and received his PhD from London Business School in Decision Sciences.

          Ali Yilmaz Camurcu was born in Nazilli, Turkey, in 1953. He received the B.S. degree in electrical education from the Gazi University,Turkey, in 1974, and the MS. and Ph.D. degrees in electronics and computer education from the Marmara  University, Turkey, in 1989 and 1996, respectively. From 1974 to 1985, he was with The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBÄ°TAK) – UNIDO project about biomedical technology.

          In 1985, he joined the Department of Electrical-Electronics, Marmara  University, Turkey as a Lecturer, he was an Assistant Professor between 1996-2000, became an Associate Professor in 2000, and a Professor in 2006. Since 2011, he has been with the Department of ComputerEngineering, Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University, Turkey. His current research interests include smart and intelligent systems, computer systems and architecture, networking. 

           

          Michel Béna is SmartGrids Director for RTE since 2012. He’s in charge of the involvment of RTE in technical pilot projects and in the discussions around the evolution of the French Electric System related to SmartGrids.

          Before that, he’s been working in power system transmission R&D field, such as long term planning,  dynamic security and voltage control. He graduated from SUPELEC (1990).

           

          Agustín Delgado is leading the Innovation Department at Iberdrola, where he is developing the R&D management process to be implemented through all the different units of the company. This process is aligned with the UNE 166002 standard and will allow Iberdrola to have a best in class R&D management including technological surveillance, ideas management, creativity process, R&D planning, R&D projects selection tools, project analysis, etc.

          Besides, he is also in charge of developing the Knowledge Management System for Iberdrola. Before joining the Spanish utility, Agustín led the R&D department at a small company working in the fields of hydrogen generation and use through fuel cells in close relation with basic research councils and universities across Europe. He holds a PhD in industrial engineering.

           

          Klaas Schuring started his career as technical officer at the Dutch Royal Air force before joining the Dutch airplane builder Fokker as manager in the civil aircraft maintenance department. In 1995 his career took on a new phase in the renewable energy sector when he became director of operations for two wind turbine manufacturers in succession.

          As R&D vice president for the rotor blades division of the Asian wind turbine manufacturer, Suzlon, his career in the wind energy industry culminated in designing and implementing a knowledge transfer organisation to facilitate the translation of European designs to Asian mass production.

          In October 2011, Klaas became CEO of the Benelux office of KIC InnoEnergy, which is responsible for the European developments in energy-efficient buildings and cities.

          • A new business aspect is a complete new product/concept/solution in an existing or new market
